There are two possible ways to get to the Albena resort. The best way is to land at Varna airport.


How to reach the Albena resort from  the Varna Airport  (see map)

Varna airport is accessible from many international airports. In the summer time there are many charter flights, which may be used.

1.1. Using the regular BUSES
From the airport take bus 409 to the Cathedral. This trip takes about 30 minutes. When you get off the bus, the Cathedral is on your right. You should then cross the main street through the underground pedestrian passage in direction to the clock-tower, then turn right and walk for about 200 meters. The bus stop is nearby. The ticket to Albena costs 3 BG leva. Departures are at 8, 8:30, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17 – these are minibuses in the timetable. The whole trip is ~40 minutes (29km).

1.2. Using TAXI
If you choose to take a taxi from the Varna airport to Albena it will cost about 15 Euros. 1EUR=1.955 BG leva

How to reach the Albena resort from  the Sofia Airport

2.1. By plane
Sofia/Varna flights are operated by Hemus Air Company. Planes departs from the Sofia airport at 19:00 p.m. Additional flights may be found on  http://www.hemusair.bg/
There are about 4-5 Sofia/Varna/Sofia flights per day in the summer. Bookings should be made via Sofia.

2.2. By bus Sofia - Varna
There are several companies operating Sofia/Varna line. Some of them are “BIOMET”, “KOSCO”, “GROUP”. The travel takes about 6.5 hours. There are buses almost every hour, the last departure being at 22.30 p.m. Buses leave from the International bus station. Tickets are ~20 BG leva.

2.3. By bus Sofia - Albena
There are direct buses from Sofia to Albena resort. The “Group” bus departs from Sofia at 10:30 a.m.  Tickets cost 21 BG leva (~11 Euros).

2.4. By train Sofia - Varna:
    Train departures are at  07: 00 a.m.; 09:05 a. m; 12:35 p.m.; 22:15 p.m.; 22:25 p.m. The travel lasts ~8 hours. The price depends on the class of services and is approximately the same as by bus (~ 11 Euros)...  not the best choice!

For points 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4 you have to take bus No 84 from the airport to the  “Hotel Pliska” bus stop. From there you can take the bus No 213, 313, 413, or  305 to the Central railway station. The International bus station is near the Central railway station. The bus ticket costs 0.50 BG leva. If you have a large luggage you must buy another ticket for it. You may take a taxi from airport to the Central railway station for about 8 BG leva.
